Mangaluru: Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, (RGUHS) Karnataka and Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri are jointly organising 80th All India Inter-University Athletic Championship 2019-20 at Swarajya Maidan in Moodabidri from January 2 to 6. The programme will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiran Rijiju on January 2, at around 6 pm.
Informing about the athletic meet RGUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr Sachidanand informed on Wednesday, January 1 said that over 5000 students from 300 universities will be participating in the event. ” There will be 23 different sports events for both male and female in the athletic championship. Besides existing sports event, 42 km long marathon and joint relay competition will be organised for male and female.
“The five-day-long event will be held day and night and participants can register their names online. In order to give precise judgement, photo-finishing equipment will be used in the championship,” Sachidanand added.
RGUHS registrar Shivanand Kapashi, Registrar Dr K B Lingegowda (Evaluation), syndicate members Prof Rajesh Shenoy, Dr Shivasharan Shetty, Dr Ravishankar Shetty, Dr Umesh, Dr Kiran and Dr Ifthikar Ali and others were present.
