Mangaluru: C. P. Yogeshwar, Minister for Tourism, and Ecology & Environment, visited New Mangalore Port on Friday.
He visited the port area to see various environmental-friendly measures adopted by NMPT to control pollution.
He was also informed about the dedicated Cruise Lounge and facilities available at the port for international cruise vessels and services provided by NMPT to the 20,000+ cruise passengers who visit the port every year during cruise season.
Following the port visit, the Minister met the Chairman, NMPT, and discussed green initiatives undertaken by the port, and about the development of cruise and tourism infrastructure in the future.
The discussion was followed by the signing of 3 MoUs between NMPT and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, MK Agrotech Pvt. Ltd and Aegis Logistics Ltd, respectively, in the presence of the Minister.
The projects related to the signing of MOU with Aegis logistics for the construction of storage tanks for POL and Chemicals of value 130 crores, and signing MOU with MK Agro Pvt. Ltd. for constructions of tank farms for Chemical storage of value 25 crores & signing of MOU with HPCL for providing two Marine unloading arms & pipeline at berth No. 9 were discussed.
Also on this occasion other dignitaries, senior officers from the Port, Stakeholders, and State Government were present.
