Mangaluru: Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries K J George has assured of releasing Rs 20 Crore for the entire development of the industrial area in Baikampady.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, November 3 George said that in order to provide basic infrastructure at Baikampady Industrial Area, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has prepared an estimation and sought a total of Rs 59 Crore from the government. The government has released Rs 10 Crore and some essential work is now under progress. As there is a demand to release more funds, the government would release a total of Rs 20 Crore soon, the remaining amount will be released phase by phase”, he informed.
George also informed that the government was planning to provide skill development training programmes to the local people as there is a demand to that extent. “There is an allegation that though the industries assure of providing jobs to the local residents while obtaining their land, they fail to keep their words later. Hence, the government is planning to conduct skill development programmes”, he said.
Meanwhile, George informed that the state government would write a letter to the central government in order to set up a plastic park in Mangaluru. The government has already identified the land in this regard and the further procedures would be taken up immediately”, he informed.
MLCs Ivan D’Souza, Hareesh Kumar, Deputy Mayor Mohammed K and Commissioner of Industrial Development Darpan Jain among others were present.
