Mangaluru: As the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has fixed May 25 for the resumption of domestic flights, the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) has prepared well to start operations.
Markings have been made at MIA to ensure social distancing and all precautionary measures, as per the guidelines issued by the health department and ministry of civil aviation, have been taken. As only domestic flights have been permitted, it will take a few more days for the airport to resume full operations.
Sources from the MIA informed that permission has been given to operate four SpiceJet flights, two each to Bengaluru and Mumbai, and one Indigo flight each to Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai.
Airport director V V Rao informed that the airport is ready to operate as instructed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. “However, maximum care will be given to curb the spread of the virus. The time table of flights will be posted to the website dgca.gov.in,” he said.
