MIA bomb scare: NSG starts investigation

Mangaluru: Close on the heels of the bomb scare at the Mangaluru International Airport, a 16-member team of the National Security Guard (NSG) arrived at the airport and conducted an investigation on Tuesday, January 21.

The team conducted a detailed inquiry about the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and collected information from the public and airport officials. The team also examined the ticket counter area, where the suspect placed the bomb. After collecting evidence, the team went to the Kenjar ground, where the bomb was detonated by the bomb squad.

Meanwhile, the Mangaluru police also intensified their investigation into the case. The three teams formed by Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha were engaged in a thorough investigating of the incident. They gathered information from the autorickshaw driver, who was hired by the suspect to drop him off at the airport.

The police department has announced that the situation is completely under control and security has been beefed up in all key locations like the airport, railway station, New Mangaluru Port Trust (NMPT) and others.
