Mangaluru: Condemning the decision of merging Vijaya Bank with Gujarat based Dena Bank by the Union government, Dakshina Kannada district youth Congress has given a bandh call on January 9.
District youth Congress president Mithun Rai told mediapersons at district Congress office on Sunday that bandh will be observed on January 9, between 6 am and 4 pm. He said that the merger will definitely have negative impact on the economy of the district.
He urged the bus owners’ association, owners of hotels and educational institutions should support the scheduled band.

“If Vijaya Bank earned the profit of Rs 727 crore in the year 2017-18, Dena Bank incurred loss of Rs 3,102 crore in the first quarterly year of 2017-18. Then why is the union government merging Vijaya Bank with Dena Bank?”, he questioned.
