MCC slaps Rs 5000 fine on cafe owner for ‘breeding’ mosquitoes

Mangaluru: If your surroundings are not clean, rush to clean it. If not you may have to pay a penalty of even Rs 5000.

The officials of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Saturday, July 20, found water accumulated in used tyres near a shop ‘Cafe Kart’ in Kannur. Citing a mosquito breeding centre there, the officials slapped a penalty of Rs 5000 on Nishan Chandra, the owner of Café Kart and asked him to clean his surroundings immediately.

As there is a spurt in Dengue cases here, the district administration has directed the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), town municipalities, gram panchayats and health department officials to be alert and engage in fogging and source reduction activities.

It may be recalled that a woman from Kadaba breathed her last owning to Dengue fever a few days ago and two others died due to suspected Dengue.
