Mangaluru: The civic workers stopped door-to-door solid waste collection in the city alleging non-payment of salaries. It is alleged that the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has delayed the payment to Antony Waste Handling Cell Private Ltd and the civic workers employed by the company have not received their salaries.

MCC opposition leader Premananda Shetty, speaking to Newskarntaka said, “It is the responsibility of Mangaluru City Corporation to settle the payment on time. Even there are proper guidelines from the government that the civic workers should be paid on time.”

However, when NewsKarnataka contacted MCC Mayor Bhaskar Moily to know more about the issue he informed that the civic workers had resumed solid waste collection in the city after a brief stoppage due to their internal issues.
