Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K V Rajendra has informed that the weddings which are scheduled can only have 50 attendees according to the new guidelines issued by the Karnataka government.

Addressing media here on Wednesday, April 21, DC Rajendra said, “If the event is held within MCC limits, the guest list should be provided to concerned officials as well as the MCC commissioner. Permission should be obtained from the CMC commissioner and TMC officials when in urban local bodies. In the village panchayats, a PDO’s approval is needed.”

“It’s tough to get a pass for the wedding that’s coming up during the weekend curfew. After receiving a permission letter, an ID card (Voter ID or Aadhar card), and an invitation card, invitees may attend the program. To gain entry to the wedding, everyone on the guest list must produce an ID card, ” DC added.

Addressing media police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that”In Mangaluru all the essential commodities like groceries, medicines are available within walkable distance. It has come to our notice that people are necessarily using vehicles to travel short distances. On the pretext of making a purchase they roam around the city. Further to hoodwink the police, they already carry a sack of rice bag in their car so that officials will not be able to question them.”
