Maoist activities in K’taka have reduced over five years: New SP of DK Lakshmi Prasad

sp innerMangaluru: “Police department and Anti Naxal Force (ANF) have been striving hard to check Maoist activities. As a result, the same have been reduced over the past five years in Karnataka” informed B M Lakshmi Prasad after taking charge as Dakshina Kannada district Superintendent of Police.

Speaking to the reporters on Wednesday January 2, Lakshmi Prasad said, “as per our knowledge, a group of Maoists from Karnataka have left to Kerala and we have evidence to back this. Though there are some instances of placing banners and attempts to incite fear among the public, no major incidents were reported in the last five years. However, we have certain plans to check the Maoist activities”, he said.

When asked about the allegations on police instigating communal violence in Dakshina Kannada district, Lakshmi Prasad informed that he is still unaware about such allegations against the police. “I will verify it and take suitable action against those who indirectly involve in communal violence”, he informed.

Lakshmi Prasad succeeded Ravikanthe Gowda who has been promoted as the DIGP of Police Fire Services, Bengaluru.

Lakshmi Prasad is belong to 2014 IPS batch and he was serving as the SP of Internal Security Centre for counter terrorism, Bengaluru. He is the 134th SP of Dakshina Kannada district.
