Mangaluru: India’s longest exploding box, reaching 10 metres when opened, has won Mangaluru’s Apeksha Kottary a spot in the India Book of Records.

A home tutor and currently pursuing her post-graduation from the Beasant Evening College, Kottary has made 35 different unique gift items sofar. Her passion has always been to create unique craft items for friends and family members for their birthdays and anniversaries – instead of purchasing and gifting ready-made products from the market.

Kottary says that she learned how to make gift boxes by regularly watching “DIY how to” YouTube videos.

The gift box she has made is correctly named ‘Incredible India’. Starting at 25 cm x 25 cm when closed, it stretches out to 1000 cms when open, and is packed with pictures and information of all Indian states, union territories, great personalities and freedom fighters.

“I am from Mangaluru and I have now entered the India Book of Records, I will apply for the Guinness World Records as well,” she says.
