Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DKDCC) President Harish Kumar inaugurated the Mangaluru South Constituency election office on Kadri main road on April 2. Prospective Congress candidate and sitting MLA J R Lobo is seeking a re-election from this constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Kumar said the forthcoming election would be fought on the development agenda by Congress against the “false propaganda” of the opposition.
“During the last five years, the district received thousands of crores of financial assistance along with a string of schemes to benefit the people in the region. MLA J R Lobo has launched many projects and schemes in the last five years what the other legislators failed to achieve during the last two decades. The false propaganda strategy adopted by the opposition against the regime will not work for sure”, claimed Harish Kumar.
In his address, Congress candidate J R Lobo said peace had prevailed in the constituency and stressed on the peaceful co-existence among different communities in the path of development.
“When peace prevails, huge investments can be drawn to create jobs for educated youth to prevent their exodus to countries abroad in search of greener pastures. Lot of importance has been given to fishing trade and port development during my tenure as they form the lifeline for the people of coastal region. Efforts are on to open a trade channel with Lakshadweep through the sea route,” Lobo said.
He stressed on the booth level management, wherein 25 members are assigned the responsibilities to ensure candidate’s victory.
Chief Whip in the State Legislature Ivan D’Souza, former Rajya Sabha member B Ibrahim, former chief whip K S Mohammed Masood, former legislator Vijaya Kumar Shetty, KPCC General Secretary P V Mohan, KPCC secretaries Kallige Taranath Shetty, Naveen D’Souza, MCC Mayor K Bhaskar Moily and MUDA President Suresh Ballal were among those present at the inaugural.
Party stalwarts in the region including Shasidhar Hegde, Balraj Rai, Prabhar Shriyan, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Vinay Raj, Mithun Rai, Shalet Pinto, Ashraf, Deepak Kumar, Binoo Abdullah, Shekar Suvarna, Merryil Rego, Appi, Hanif Haji and Namitha Rao were also present on the occasion.
South Block Party President Abdul Saleem welcomed the gathering. City Block President Vishwas Kumar Das proposed a vote of thanks at the event compered by Rohith Ullal.
