Mangaluru: Merely a few hours after the government included Dakshina Kannada distrct in the list of nine district which will go in for lockdown till March 31, Mangaluru city registered its first COVID-19 positive case.
Sources say that a 22-year-old person from Bhatkal has tested positive for COVID-19.
He has been admitted to District Wenlock Hospital for isolation and treatment.
According to sources, he had arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport from the Middle East on March 19 and since he was symptomatic, his swabs were sent for a test.
His reports have confirmed that he is COVID-19 positive.
There were 65 passengers on-board the Spice Jet flight from Dubai, in which he arrived at Mangaluru. All are being traced, said sources.
The total number of positive cases in the state has reached 22 with this latest addition. On Sunday morning, a man from Dharwad tested positive for COVID-19.
