Mangalore : JR Lobo, newly elected MLA of Mangalore South constituency, on May 20, Monday visited the Central Market in the heart of Mangalore, and had a first hand account of the conditions prevailing at the market and the problems faced by the merchants.
The MLAs visit to the market area followed repeated complaints from members of the general public as well as traders that the authorities were unresponsive to their problems despite several media reports on the lack of basic amenities as well as cleanliness in the area.
The MLA during his visit heard the grievances of the merchants and also inspected the conditions in the market.
Later, speaking to media men, Lobo stressed the need for cleanliness in such an important place and added a meeting would be convened on Tuesday in the presence of various department officials to find a solution to the problem. He said all out efforts would be made to have a full-fledged Central Market for Mangalore.
