Man arrested on charges of killing sister; body recovered from Charmadi Ghat

Belthangady: Chennagiri police on Saturday December 26, arrested a man on charges of murdering his sister owing to property dispute. Though the murder took place about 10 days ago, the incident came to light on December 26.

The deceased is identified as Susheelamma. She was 38. Her body was found on the Charmadi Ghat in a decomposed state. Her brother Mallesh is the arrested.

According to sources, Susheelamma, a resident of Chennagiri in Davangere, had gone missing about 10 days ago. A case had been filed with the local police in this regard. It was suspected that her disappearance had direct connection with the family property row.

Hence, the Chennagiri police took Mallesh into custody and during interrogation, he is admitted to have killed his sister owing to property dispute. He is said to have revealed to the police that he killed Susheelamma in Agumbe and then threw her body on the Charmadi Ghat. The police arrived at Charmadi Ghat along with the accused and with the help of Beltangady police, recovered the decomposed body. It was then shifted to a hospital in Deralakatte for autopsy.

His friend who allegedly helped him in the execution of the murder is absconding.
