Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar on Wednesday, June 13 said that Dakshina Kannada was the place of religious harmony and peace.
Addressing a peace meeting ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in the city, Vipul Kumar said, “Dakshina Kannada is known for its culture of communal harmony, and it is the responsibility each individual to maintain such communal harmony in the district.”
“During assembly elections, I have witnessed how Hindus and Muslims worked together,” he said.
In the meeting, a councillor from Ullal Town Panchayath also urged Police Commissioner to deploy security forces at Ullal and Panambur beaches where huge crowds gather during hte festival time. Compol said that the police have appointed home guards and soon police personnel will also be deployed.
He also assured that stringent action would be taken against anyone who spreads communal hatred and false messages on social media.
