Mangaluru: Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil has asked the licensed gun and firearms holders to deposit their weapons in the nearest police stations on or before March 18.
Patil, in a press release, informed on Monday, March 11 that in order to conduct a peaceful election, all licensed gun holders should deposit their weapons.
If possessing a gun is inevitable considering self-defence or protecting their crops from wild animals, they should approach the nearest police station within a week and submit a proposal in this regard.
The licensed holders of guns and firearms can collect their weapons, once the election procedures are completed, the press release said.
