LPG tanker tragedy at Uppinangady leaves 8 dead

Uppinangady :  A total of eight lives were lost in the LPG tanker tragedy at Perne near Uppinangady on the NH 75 on April 9 , Tuesday morning. The tanker was negotiating a curve when the mishap took place and the tanker was in flames. It was on way to Bangalore from MRPL. Two of the injured succumbed in the hospital.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Those killed in the worst ever tragedy are Khateejamma (40), who was admitted to Father Muller hospital, and Vasanth (35) from Bantwal, who was in AJ hospital. Vasanth was the driver of the Maruti Omni that was gutted during the mishap.

Others who lost their lives in the mishap are Shobha Rai (45), Vanita (38) and her son Shitesh, Guruvappa (30), Sunil and driver of the tanker Cheluvarasan (32).

The Deputy Commissioner of DK Harsh Gupta has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of kin of the dead and those who have sustained more than 50 per cent burn injuries. Others  who are injured will get Rs 50,000.
