Long pending salary: JBF Petrochem staff attempts suicide by climbing chimney

Mangaluru: A North Indian employee who was working as a welder in JBF Petrochemicals attempted to commit suicide by climbing the chimney of the company on Saturday, November 24.

The youth who attempted to commit suicide has been identified as Sanjay Yadav (28), a resident of North India. According to the sources, Sanjay Yadav has been working as a welder in JBF Petrochemicals Limited company which is functioning at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), located in Bajpe police station limits.

Sources also informed that he has not been getting his salary from the past four months. As his sister’s marriage has been fixed to be held next month, he demanded his salary. But the company refused giving some lame excuses, which forced him to attempt to suicide, it is said.

When he climbed the chimney of the company in the noon, the officials tried to convince him. But, he got down only after he received a proper assurance by the officials concerned of giving his pending salary, sources said.
