Bantwal: A leopard, which had ventured out of the forest, made its way towards Ballal Bettu resident Monappa Bangera and attacked two pet dogs here on Monday, September 30.
During the attack, the wild animal missed its target and fell directly into an open well.
The forest officials rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue operations. While they made the dangerous attempt to life the animal from the well, a huge gathering formed around to witness the scene.
The nearby residents have claimed that leopard and cheeta sightings have become a common occurance in the nearby areas over the past six years and that they have killed many pet animals and cattle.
