KVGCE student bags first rank in VTU exams, earns 5 gold medals

Mangaluru: Arpitha K S, student of KVG College of Engineering, Sullia, has received First Rank in the examinations conducted by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), earning her 5 gold medals in BE Computer Science and Engineering.

The VTU recently announced the results of the examinations held in June/July 2017.

Speaking to newskarnataka.com Arpitha said, “I am really happy with the result. It’s the fruit of hard work. I am very thankful and grateful for all the support and encouragement that I have received from my family, friends and teachers.”

When asked about the secret to her success, she said that all she did was pay attention in the class and take guidance of her teachers. “Our teachers are really good and they gave us proper guidance as to how to prepare for the exams and how to write and present our answers in the exams. I studied very hard during the one month study leave that was given.”

Arpitha, who got placed in a company named ThoughtFocus in Bengaluru, through campus recruitment says that from here, she will start working towards her dream of cracking the UPSC examinations.

Arpitha is the daugther of Shashidara K S and Kavitha. Arpitha studied at St. Joseph’s English Medium School in Sullia, after which she went on to pursue her PU studies at Ambika Padavi Poorva Vidyalaya in Puttur.

Arpitha enjoys singing, origami and making silk thread jewellery. She also enjoys reading non-fiction books, mostly relating to politics.

Arpitha belongs to a family of four. Her father, Shashidara has a business in Sullia by the name Hi Tech Computers. He provides Xerox facilities as well as helps students in their preparation for their project work especially when it comes to printing. Her mother, Kavitha is a homemaker. She has a younger sister who is presently a first year PU commerce student.

Her family hails from Vittal, where her joint-family is involved in agriculture.
