Subrahmanya : The Kumaradhara Bridge has submerged for the record fourth time this monsoon on July 19 Friday afternoon, due to heavy rains that have been lashing the area since Thursday resulting in the overflowing of River Kumaradhara.

Normal life has been thrown completely out of gear and  many were put to hardships  due to the submersion of the bridge. Students of several schools were left stranded for hours on the other side of the bridge.

On getting information of the hardship, Sullia MLA S Angara rushed to the spot and after consulting KSRTC authorities made arrangements for special buses to ferry the stranded children back home via  Panja.

Even pilgrims visiting the shrine of Kukke Subrahmanya had to suffer a great deal due to heavy rains. However the number of people visiting the shrine on July 19 being an Ekadashi Day was  less when compared to other days. Still pilgrims who had arrived from Mangalore, Bangalore and other far off places and those who arrived by train had to suffer due to the heavy rains.

There are also reports of  power problems in various places due to  the snapping of power lines due to fall of tree branches.  A power transformer at Ainekidu-Kedila was also destroyed when a huge tree rolled over it.
