Mangalore: The city based Konkani Natak Saha that had begun Konkani singing competition since 1965 has proposed to organize unique singing competitions to mark golden jubilee celebrations shortly, said the Sabha chief secretary Sunil Menezes.
Addressing the media persons here on Thursday May 16, Sunil Menezes said that Konkani Natak Sabha was established during 1943 in order to promote Konkani and its distinct culture has continued its mission with vigor. The talented musicians were emerged out of Mangalore diocesan level Konkani singing competition, added Sunil Menezes.
The singing competitions to mark the golden jubilee will be held in different parishes on deanery level and concluded with semi final and final. Accordingly, the first stage of competition will begin at Puttur deanery on May 19 and concluded at Episcopal deanery on July 21. The semi final of children’s singing competition will be held on August 4, senior’s semi final on August 11, the mega final of children and senior will be held at Don Vosco Hall, here on September 15. The prizes will be distributed along with golden jubilee trophy to the parish that gets the highest points, besides individual first, second and third prizes, said Sunil Menezes.
