Mangaluru: The artists of Kala Sangama are all set to stage a Tulu play “Shivadoothe Gulige” under the direction of Tulu playwright, film producer and renowned director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail at Town Hall on January 2.
Speaking to reporters Kodialbail said that the play is going to be different because Hindu mythology has been seamlessly blended with the modern-day scenario in the play.
“Though we are yet to stage this play for the first time in Town Hall on January 2, the play has already been booked for 27 shows in different places. We have seen in the past that several ‘intellectuals’ had questioned the Tulunadu’s belief of demi-God worship. They have made disparaging statements in the past with regard to the same. This play gives a strong answer to all those who have questioned the practice and hurt our sentiments,” he said. The duration of this play is two and half hours and most of the artists are budding talents.
Tulu film actor Swaraj Shetty is in the lead role as “Guliga” in this play. A K Vijay (Kokila) has composed music for the play. Thelikeda Bolli Devadas Kapikad, Patla Sathish Shetty, Raveendra Prabhu, Dr Vaishnavi Narasimha Kini and Vishalraj Kokila have sung the songs for the play.
