Madikeri: The traditional monsoon-time festival of the Kodagu region, Kakkada Padinett, was celebrated on Friday, August 3.
In the towns across Kodagu district, people beelined to buy the “Aati Soppu” (leafy greens) that is used to make special dishes during the festival.
Codava National Council (CNC) celebrated the “Kakkada Padinett Namme” at Capitol Village, on the outskirts of Madikeri city on Friday.
This was the 23rd iteration of the “Kakkada Padinett Namme.” This year’s cultural celebrations were led by the president of the organisation N U Nachappa. Members of CNC started the celebration by transplanting paddy by hand, the traditional way.
