Khader urges center for harsher punishment for rape under POCSO

Mangaluru: State minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader, on Sunday, April 15 informed that he will write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Law ministry demanding an amendment to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), due to rising cases of sexual abuse against children in the country.

Speaking to media at a press meet here, condemning the rape incident in Kathua and Unnao, Khader said, “I will write a letter to Prime Minister and Union Law ministry to strengthen and make the POCSO act rigid, by bringing changes to the act”

“The incidents of rape is denting image of India, ” he said pressing for denial of bail and minimum of life imprisonment/death penalty for convicts in rape cases. The victim should be given a proper compensation and protection.

Speaking about upcoming polls, Khader said that this time the fight was against the truth and the lies.

“I will fight this elections, with an aim to win the constituency, with peace and harmony without any enmity with any parties” he added.
