Mangaluru: Congress MLA U T Khader hit back at BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal after the latter called veteran freedom fighter H S Doreswamy a “fake freedom fighter who behaves like a Pakistani agent”.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, February 27, Khader said, “These days, the BJP is severely criticizing the freedom fighters starting from Mahatma Gandhi and now Doreswamy is been called a fake freedom fighter. The BJP is mocking the freedom struggle and its leaders, this shows their hidden agenda.”
“The BJP members are severely effected with ‘Pakistan virus’, which has no medicine in India. In order to cure them, we should send the BJP to Pakistan. Those who mock the freedom struggle and deliver such statements are traitors,” he added.
Further condemning Yatnal’s remarks, Khader said, “The BJP should clarify their stand regard Yatnal’s statement. BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa need to give clarity regard the same.”
The Mangaluru MLA also suggested that the whole controversy was an attempt by Yatnal and the BJP to distract from the failures of the Yediyurappa-led state government.
Commenting on the Northeast Delhi riots, Khader held Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responsible. “The State and Central governments have failed to get the situation under control. They both (Shah and Kejriwal) should resign,” he said.
