Mangaluru: On allegations against him by slain Rowdy Sheeter’s Illyas’ wife that Minister of Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader had used her husband during the elections, he, on January 19, told media, “I do not want to comment on this allegation when the family is in pain. I will definitely comment on it at the right time.”
Earlier, Ilyas’ wife had made a statement, “When my husband was alive, he visited our house looking for support in the elections. But after his death, he never visited nor condoled his death. They have not announced any compensation too.”
It may be recalled that Ilyas, leader of Ullal’s notorious target group and the vice-president of Youth Congress, Mangaluru was murdered in broad daylight near Jeppu, on January 13. Soon after the murder of Deepak Rao, a youth from Katipalla, pictures of Illyas with top congress leaders including Minister U T Khader had gone viral, but Khader had cleared the air in a press meet stating that he has no connections with Illyas and several others affiliated to Target Group.
