Mangaluru: Konkani aficionados in the city were treated to a plethora of popular melodies by the Konkani world’s new generation musician, Kevin Misquith at the Town Hall on Sunday, July 28.
The hall reverberated with his popular songs during the landmark ‘50th Kevin Misquith Live in Concert’ presented by Angan Konknechem and Milestone Events.
Songs performed by the musician were penned by well-known Konkani lyricists and poets, some were composed by Kevin himself.
The occasion was also decked with felicitations, album and book releases and a host of spectacular dances, all coordinated and organized to perfection.
Earlier, the show witnessed a short stage programme presided over by Mangalore Diocese Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.
Addressing the gathering, the Bishop said, “I am not a musician, but wherever Konkani music plays it attracts me and gives me a sense of pleasure. We all grew up listening to songs by Wilfy and other legends. Now, we live in a technology-driven world. Kevin is a musician who used technology in his compositions. As a very soft-spoken and hardworking youth, he is a role model for today’s youngsters. It is not easy to build a team and organise a musical show for the public. Lots of effort and arrangements are required for but Kevin is now completing his 50th show. Only a hardworking and dedicated person can achieve this milestone. On this occasion, on behalf of the gathering, I congratulate him.”
Wishing the show success, Melvyn Rodrigues said, “’Aangan Konkneche’ is an organisation that helped the dreams of Konkani bloom in the Arabian Desert. Its birth helped us realize that the voice of Konkani can be heard from the Arab soil also. I appreciate the founders and office bearers of the association for their passion towards Konkani and their homeland.”
“Today, Kevin has set a new milestone in his musical journey. He is the musician for a new generation. By adopting technology in music, he has given a new dimension to Konkani music. By his humble nature itself, he succeeded in attracting Konkani organisations which are spread all across the world. He has carried Konkani music to every corner of the world on the strength of his shoulders. Now, on his 50th show, I congratulate him and wish him a bright future in music,” he added.
On behalf of Aangan Konknechem, the guests felicitated the Bishop and Kevin Misquith for their achievements in their respectful fields. A book written by Fr Francis D’ Souza and ‘Kenna Kenna’ an album of Kevin’s songs were also released on the occasion.
Well-known Konkani vocalists- Royston Pinto, Ashwin D’Costa, Ashwin Sequeira, Vanessa Saldana, Laveena Prafulla, Rony Fernandes, and Joseph Mathias accompanied Kevin in enthralling the audience with their stunning performances.

The audience was also treated to a scintillating performance by the dancers of D Gallery.
In between the musical performances, Nellu Permannur and team tickled the audience’s funny bones with humourous performances. Team Revelations led by Suraj Noronha rendered vocals for the songs.
The band Milestone, comprising Jackson Noronha, Clyde Lobo, Linton Pereira, Milton Pereira, Alston Gomes, Reuben Machado provided music.
Arun Palimar, Gurkar, Aangan Konknechem, Riyadh welcomed the dignitaries and gathering. Sheldon Crasta and poet and writer Wilson Kateel compered the show.
