Karnataka polls will set tone for 2019 Lok Sabha elections: Sam Pitroda

Mangaluru: Eminent technocrat and long-time associate of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Sam Pitroda said that the Karnataka assembly election assumes significance as it will pave the right stage for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press meet at district Congress office on Sunday April 29, Sam Pitroda also stated that lot of lies are amplified and propagated on social media against the Congress and Karnataka government.

Informing that lot of developments have taken place during the Congress rule in the country, Sam Pitroda said, “a lot of things had happened in last 70 years in the country. During Rajiv Gandhi’s time we had 2 million telephones. Today we have one billion telephones. We have created massive IT industry. Bengaluru is also known as Silicon city of India, and is referred as the IT capital all over the world. It was during the Rajiv Gandhi’s time that the seed was planted to eradicate polio from the country, ” he added.

Despite so many things being accomplished in the IT, Telecom, Technology , digital India sectors, statements that nothing has been done in the past years comes as an insult to the people of India. So the public should not get carried away with these lies.

On five years of Congress government in Karnataka, Sam Pitroda said, ” In Bengaluru a lot of things have been accomplished in last five years. To create awareness among the people, the manifesto has laid down its achievements over the last five year as well as it has listed what it plans to achieve in next five years. Creating 10 million jobs, improving farmers income and doubling it, focusing on skill development and better education are among the few things that the Congress has committed itself to in the manifesto.

Sam Pitroda stated that he didn’t directly participate in manifesto preparation in Karnataka, but he has worked for the Congress party manifesto in Gujarat.

He also said during the Lok Sabha elections the Congress will hold interaction across the country to prepare a manifesto.

Stating that the country stands as a startling anomaly, that being several villages still haven’t seen electricity, he said, “now I believe we have the great opportunity to expedite the process of the modernization because of the technological advances.
