Karnataka and Goa Directorate NCC crowned champions in AINSC-2018

Mangaluru: National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Karnataka and Goa Directorate has been crowned the champions in the All India Nau Sainik Camp- 2018 (AINSC) which was organised at Karwar from October 12 to 18.

The AINSC camp is held to test the acumen of the Naval Cadets of the NCC in various professional competitions like ship modeling, boat pulling, semaphore, firing etc. A total of 600 cadets from 17 NCC directorates participated in the competition.

Brigader D M Purvimath, Deputy Director General NCC, Karnataka and Goa who spoke on the occasion appreciated the cadets for their zeal and standard of living. He also reminded the cadets about the need to continue to live up to the motto of NCC `unity and discipline’.

Rear Admiral K K Kumar, flag officer Karwar who was the chief guest of the closing ceremony gave away various trophies to the winners and runner-up directorates. Karnataka and Goa Directorate were followed by Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar Directorate in the second position and Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate in the third position.

Group Commander of NCC Anil Nautiyal, informing the achievements of cadets told reporters at the office of NCC at Pandeshwar on Wednesday, October 23 that there are 6 girls and 3 boys from Mangaluru in `Thal Sainik Camp. The girl’s team has secured second place in `Thal Sainik Camp` which was held at Kawar. In obstacle training camp which was held between September 17 and 28 at New Delhi, the girl’s team bagged first place in All India level. The training given at Mangaluru played an instrumental role in securing the medal“, he said.

Anil also informed that participating in the NCC helps the students to easily get access into military forces like navvy, airforce and army. Youth should come forward to join the NCC so as to serve the nation. Securing medals in state and national level inspire the others who are eagerly waiting to join the NCC“, he said.

A total of 7 cadets namely Muttamma from Alvas College Moodbidri, Glenal Sanjay and Thanvitha from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Rakshitha from SDM College, Ujire, Pallavi from Shivamogga and Radhika Bhat from Manipal have participated in the obstacle training which was held at New Delhi. Radhika Bhat, a student of School of Allied Health Sciences in Manipal who was the part of the NCC Karnataka Directorate while participating in a competition in New Delhi had secured first place in pick and speech competition. Sharing her experience with the media she said that it was the nice movement to her.

NCC plans to send at least 20 cadets from Mangaluru to participate in Republic Parade in New Delhi

NCC Group Headquarters training officer Lt.Col. Amit Shri informed that the final selection for the cadets who are participating at the Republic Parade will be held at Alva’s College Moodbidri on October 26. A total of 77 cadets will be participating in the final selection, in which around 20 cadets will be selected to participate in the Republic parade in New Delhi“, he said.
