Karkala: The BJP is facing a sense of uncertainty in the Karkala Town Muncipal Council after the sudden decision of TMC member Sridhar Devadiga to resign, both from the TMC post as well as membership of the BJP.
The Karkala TMC has 12 Congress councilors and 11 BJP members. With the support of the local MLA and MP, the party managed to retain power at the TMC for second term and now the drastic step of one of its members has left the BJP in a fix.
In his resignation letter, Devadiga has reportedly told that he was dejected with the attitude of the President of the TMC who has completely sidelined development activities.
Sridhar Devadiga had remained absent from three successive general sessions of the council. If his resignation is accepted, the municipal chief officer will have to find out whether the ruling outfit has majority support in the council.
