Mangaluru: The man from Udupi, who made a hoax call to Mangaluru International Airport reportedly did so to gain popularity.
Speaking to reporters, Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar said that Krishna Sherigar (33), a resident of Mudradi of Karkala taluk was arrested for making hoax bomb call to MIA.
Revealing about the case, the Compol said that Sherigar looked up to Aditya Rao, an engineer who too fell into police net after planting an explosive in MIA last year.
Sherigar has been tested negative for COVID-19 and the court has sent him to police custody.
The accused who joined several hotels for work in Bengaluru and Udupi, later remained at home during the lockdown.
It is during the lockdown he googled the contact number of Airport Director, MIA and made a hoax bomb threat call on August 19.
However, within a few hours he was nabbed and he than revealed that he wanted to become popular just like Aditya Rao.
