Mangaluru: In order to give financial security and job security to the private bus workers and to give customer-friendly service to the public, the bus drivers and conductors have started a new association named  ‘Karavali Shramika Sangha’ a few days ago.

Complaints like picking passengers from no parking areas, which leads to traffic snarl, overspeed, behaving in a rude manner with the passengers, non-issuance of tickets to the passengers among others are very common complaints against bus drivers and conductors. The new association aims to address these problems by organising a workshop to both conductors and drivers in the coming days.

M G Hegde, honorary president of Karavali Shramika Sangha informed, on Friday, August 2 that the association intends to give customer friendly service to the public and job security to the bus workers. ” The association would start providing loans to bus drivers and conductors by initiating some saving schemes, on the lines of the Self-Help Groups “.

Hegde informed that the association has already approached Father Mullers Hospital to issue health card to the bus workers. “Those who possess health card would avail treatment at the general wards for free. Meanwhile, the association would also strive hard to avail government facilities to the bus workers”, he said.

Association president Rohith Kotian,  honorary president Sharath Padavinangadi, general secretary Manju Bondel, vice president Raju Ullalbail, treasurer Sunil and organising secretary Sagar Kodical were present.
