Mangaluru: Kannada movie “Lungi”, a Khara Entertainment production, is all set to hit the silver screen on October 11.
After the success of Tulu movies such as “Barsa” and “Aremarler”, producer Mukhesh Hegde has forayed into the Sandalwood industry with “Lungi”.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, September 5, Hegde said, “The people of Tulu Nadu speak Kannada in a different style which is being used as a comedy tool for films to be successful in Sandalwood. Bengaluru-based producers are not ready to use Mangaluru-style Kannada for the entire film and they use it only for the sake of comedy. But, ‘Lungi’ is produced entirely by using Mangaluru-style Kannada. Despite profit-related risks, I have tried to showcase our Mangaluru-style Kannada through this film.”
The film stars Pranav Hegde in the lead alongside actresses Ahalya Suresh and Radhika Rao. “The ‘Lungi’ trailer was released by actor-director Rakshit Shetty on August 30 and has evoked a good response from the audience,” Hegde added.
“Lungi” has been directed by Akshith Shetty and features actors Prakash Thuminadu, Roopa Varkady, Deepak Rai Panaje, Karthik, Mime Ramdas, Vineeth and Sandeep Shetty. The screenplay, movie dialogues and song lyrics are written by Arjun Lewis while Prasad K Shetty has composed the musical score for the film.
