Mangaluru: Former Mangaluru Mayor and Congress leader who recently joined JD(S) K Ashraf filed his nomination as JD(S) candidate for Mangaluru constituency. He was accompanied by his supporters.
Speaking to media persons after filing the nominations, Ashraf, president of united muslims organisation and a household name in the Bunder area said, “I was challenged by U T Khader to contest against him and win the elections. I have accepted the challenge and filed the nominations. I will win the elections too.”
“During the campaigning in the constituency, I have received good response from voters, especially from youth. This support will help me win. Some people tried to stop me from contesting, but I decided to contest election with the wholehearted support from the local party leaders and members,” he added.
