It is wrong to assume that miscreants belong to one particular community: M B Patil

Mangaluru: “Despite 99 percent of the people from all religion want to live in peace, 1 percent of people indulge in violence and create communal disturbance in the society. Hence, there is a need to identify and punish such miscreants in order to lead a peaceful life”, said Home Minister M B Patil on Friday, February 8.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the three-day ‘Beary Mela’ organised by the Beary Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) at Town Hall. Patil said, “It is wrong to assume that miscreants belong to one particular community or religion. A handful of miscreants prevail in each and every community who create disturbance in the society. Our coalition government always supports those who support peace and harmony in the society and against those who create violence”, he said.

Patil assured of providing a fire station in Mudipu of Mangaluru Taluk. “As the Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader has been insisting on providing a fire station at Mudipu, I am ready to take all essential measures to set one up here”, he said.

Meanwhile, B A Group Chairman B Ahmed Haji Mohiyuddin conferred the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award on Calicut and Kannur universities’ former vice-chancellor. Dr. M Abdul Rahman conferred the BCCI Academic Excellence Award, Director of Expertise Group Sheikabba Karnire presented the BCCI NRI Business Excellence Award and A K Group of Companies Founder Ahmed the BCCI Business Excellence Award on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Minister U T Khader released the souvenir and Chancellor of Yenapoya University Y Abdulla Kunjhi inaugurated the exhibition.

The purpose of the Mela was to create and promote entrepreneurship and Beary culture and throw light on their contribution to business. There were business stalls, food court, seminars, networking and cultural programmes as a part of the Mela.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, MLC B M Mohammed Farooq, Yenepoya University Chancellor Y Abdullah Kunhi, Mayor Bhaskar K, former MLA Moideen Bava, former MLC Mohammed Masood, District Wakf Committee President U K Monu among others were present.
