Mangaluru: Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy is organising an interaction programme “Belli Hejje’ with veteran Tulu film director Dr Richard Castelino at Raveendra Kalabhavan, on Saturday, August 3.
Karnataka Chalanachithra Academy president Dr Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar told reporters here on Friday, July 2 that Castelino has helped Tulu film industry to attain name and through his famous films like ‘Bangar Patler’, ‘Bollidota’, ‘Nyayogad Enna Baduk’ among others. He has proved his talent in Konkani language also as his two Konkani films ‘Bogsaane’ and ‘Kazar’ had received best regional film awards. He has also produced Kannada and Kodava language films and received many awards. In order to inspire the budding talents in film industry and to collect the great experience of Castelino, this interaction programme will be organised “, he informed.
“Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya and former vice-chancellor of Hampi Kannada University Dr B A Vivek Rai will be the resource persons in the programme. Presidents of Tulu, Konkani and Beary academies A C Bhandary, R P Nayak and Karambar Mohammed will also be present at the programme. Meanwhile, Castelino couple will be felicitated on the same occasion”, Nagathihalli added.
I don’t favour dubbing and remake films
When asked about his opinion on dubbing and remake films, Nagathihalli informed that though he was not in favour of both dubbing and remake films, legally it is allowed. “Though it would hinder the growth of Kannada film industry, we can’t oppose it. However, instead of concentrating on producing more number of films, we need to concentrate on producing quality films. However, it is good sign that our recent films like Kurukshetra, KGF, Pailwan among others are being produced in other languages also”, he informed.
