Incessant rains cause landslide, hill and houses collapse in city

Mangaluru: Due to incessant rains, a landslide occurred at Madakagudde near Amblamogaru damaging two houses on Monday, July 22.

According to the sources, the houses which are damaged by the landslide belong to Abbas and Razak, residents of Madakagudde. Though houses were damaged, no casualties have been reported. Meanwhile, an electric pole also has collapsed.

Another such incident happened near Circuit House, where a portion of the hill collapsed to the road. Though a huge stone rolled upon the road, no casualties have been reported in the incident. Due to the incident, traffic was severely affected. Later, Kadri traffic police rushed to the spot and managed to ease the traffic. The mud and stone were removed with the help of JCB machine and the traffic block was cleared.

Meanwhile, a huge tree was uprooted near St. Joseph’s school in Kankanady and traffic was affected. The branches of a tree fell on an autorickshaw damaging it partially. Later, fire personnel and tree cutters removed the tree and eased the traffic movement.
