Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police, along with Mangaluru South police busted a racket refilling domestic gas and detained two persons on Sunday, December 16. Meanwhile, police seized jeep, tempo traveller, 93 filled gas cylinders, 143 unfilled gas cylinders and gas refilling pump, all worth Rs 6,44,400 from their possession.
The arrested have been identified as Prashanth (42), son of Janardhan Amin, a resident of Marigudi, Bolar and Sadashiv Rai (47), son of Balakrishna Rai, a resident of Kaikamba, BC Road, Bantwal. However, two others- Harish and Koosappa escaped from the place.
According to the police sources, the accused were running an illegal gas refilling business. Based on credible information, a team of police headed by CCB inspector Shantharam and Mangaluru South police sub-inspectors Kabbal Raj and Shyam Sundar rushed to Bolar and Jeppu Market and found illegal refilling centres. The accused would be produced before the court, sources said.
