Bantwal: A complaint has been registered at city police station against seven persons from Kalladka area who attacked two persons in connection with illegal cattle transportation.
The two persons who were allegedly attacked and injured in the scuffle were identified as Basheer and Siddiq from Kolnadu.
The incident took place here at Poorlippady in Kalladka on October 2. Two persons on a bike were chasing a pick-up vehicle on confirmed information that they were transporting cattle from Mani. In Poorlippady too five persons in another pick-up vehicle blocked the road and were waiting for the pick-up vehicle carrying cattle to come. After realising that bikers were following the pick-up vehicle, the driver increased the speed, and as a result he lost control of the pick-up and it overturned.
In the mishap Basheer and Siddiq were injured. Five men who were waiting for the pick-up attacked both of them while attempting to escape from the spot. Injured have been shifted to Mangalore private hospital.
Two cows, 2 pick-up vehicles, and a bike have been taken into custody by the police.
A case has been registered against Bashir and Siddiq for the illegal cattle transportation.
A murder attempt and assault case has been registered against 7 people who allegedly attacked two accused as per their complaint.
Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa and city station ASI Nandakumar visited the spot.
The investigation is being carried out under the guidance of Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar. District Police Superintendent, Dr Sharanappa also visited Kalladka and took stock of the situation.
Police forces has been deployed in the area to prevent further communal clashes in the area.
