Mangaluru: “I was eagerly awaiting an opportunity to act in Tulu films. Fortunately, I have got an opportunity to play a role in the movie ‘English'”, informed veteran Sandalwood actor Anant Nag on Saturday, February 16.
Speaking to reporters at the Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management near Besant College, Kodialbail, where the shooting of Tulu film ‘English’ is in progress, Anant Nag said, “I am a playing the role of an English teacher. As English is a universally accepted language, it is very essential to have a proper knowledge. However, one should not disrespect their mother tongue”, he informed.
Responding to a query on how he was able to act in the film despite not knowing to speak Tulu, Anant Nag said that during his childhood he had lived in Udupi for two years. “Those days, I uses to talk in Tulu language. Hence I can understand it”, he said.
When asked whether he wanted to join politics again, Anant Nag denied. ” I am busy with my film career and I don’t want to join politics”, he said.
Director of the movie, Suraj Shetty informed that 75 percent of the shooting was completed. “We are confident that our film would be successful as veteran actor Anant Nag has played his role very well”, he said.
Producer Hareesh Sherigar, hero of the film Pruthvi Ambar, heroine Navya Poojary, veteran Tulu film actor Bhojraj Vamanjoor among others were present.
