Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada branch of the Rama Sena Karnataka on Monday, November 23, lashed out at those opposing the state government’s decision to set up the Maratha Development Board.

Addressing the media on Monday, persons, Shri Shri Shri Rishikumar Swamiji, of the Kalimatta Temple slammed the pro-Kannada organisations for calling a Karnataka Bandh on December 5 when there are many poor and commoners who are struggling to earn a living due to the lockdown. “What is wrong in the CM’s decision to set up the Maratha Development Board to help that community?” he questioned.

“When there is nothing wrong with the Cheif Minister announces financial aid for Muslims, Christians or Hindus, why are the pro-Kannada organisation trying to close Karnataka for a day? This will result in huge losses to businesses and the hard working people,” he said.

Stating that there is a difference between Maratha and Marathi, the Swamiji said that the Maratha community is also Hindu. “There are many Marathas who are born in Karnataka and they are part of us. Why is there discrimination against them? I am against this bundh and will openly ask the people of the state to not support the bundh call and keep their places of business open,” he added.

He added that if anyone forced the people to close their business, they should “hit them with stones” or any other “weapon” available.

“How did the Mangaluru Police lathi-charge and fire their guns during the CAA protest? They did it to protect themselves. We can also do the same thing when we are forced to join the bundh,” he said requestung the people of the state , including Dakshina Kannada, not to support the December 5 bundh call.

Rama Sena State general secretary Manjunath Kunder and Rama Sena district president Kiran Amin Urwa Store were also present.
