Mangalore : A tragic hit and run case reported from near Polali Cross at Gurupur Kaikamba on July 19, Friday morning claimed the life of a young doctor. The mishap took place when Dr Harshavardhan Ganesh Ullal (29), a resident of Pandeshwar was on his way home in his bike from Ganjimutt.
His two-wheeler was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene taking advantage of the absence of anyone around during early morning. The young doctor is learnt to have died on the spot due to fatal injuries on his head and shoulders.
It has been learnt that Dr Harshavardhan had been to a friends house at Ganjimutt and was returning when the mishap took place. Sources said three of his friends returned by car while he chose to drive back in his two-wheeler, but as fate would have it lost his life.
Dr Harshavardhan, an alumnus of Canara College and KMC had worked for KMC and AJ Hospital for some time and was preparing for his postgraduate examination.
