Mangaluru: The people were fed up with frequent communal clashes and mud-slashing between different communities in Dakshina Kannada district in last few months. Here is an incident between Hindus and Muslims which could revive communal harmony in the district.
Hindus, during a mosque inaugural, served snacks to the gathering and joined the celebration.
Arafa Juma Masjid was inaugurated here at Kumpanamajalu in Farangipete where Hindus also joined the celebration reviving unity and brotherhood.
Somappa Alva and his sons Anand Alva and Vittal Alva who run a catering business close to the mosque served payasam to over 1500 guests.
It was Somappa’s own initiative. “He had asked what can be served during the inauguration and I suggested him to distribute payasam,” said Mosque President Asif Iqbal.
On the day of the inaugural, over 3000 villagers visited the new mosque and over 1500 were served payasam by Somappa.
