Mangaluru: Amid controversies surrounding the statements by political leaders on Mahathma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse, the Dakshina Kannada district unit of All India Hindu Mahasabha celebrated the latter’s birthday at Kumpala on Monday, May 20.
The leaders of Hindu Mahasabha celebrated the birthday by paying floral tribute to the Nathuram Godse’s portrait. According to sources, the leaders who participated in the birthday celebration praised Godse and called him a ‘patriot.’ Leaders like L K Suvarna, Rajesh Poojary, Dharmendra and Lokesh among others were present.
It may be recalled that Bhopal’s Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for Lok Sabha polls, Pragya Singh Thakur had recently stroked controversy by terming Godse, a patriot. Meanwhile, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel faced flak after comparing Godse with former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
