Mangaluru: A 46-year-old labourer was killed and two others were injured when a hillock collapsed near a construction site in Kudupu on Wednesday, November 13.
The deceased has been identified as Shyam, a resident of Moodushedde. The injured are Ramesh and Renuka, residents of the Linganasuru taluk of the Raichur district.
According to sources in the police department, a hillock collapsed at a site in Kudupu where a nursing college is being built. Two of the labourers who got stuck under the mound managed to come out, however, Shyam was trapped and soon succumbed. It is said that proper precautionary measures were not taken during the construction work.
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Rural police station against contractor Chandrahas and supervisor Praveen, in this regard.
