Bengaluru: JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy has sent a letter to the Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala seeking an appointment with him today, May 15.
In the letter to the Governor, HDK wrote that he has accepted the support of the Congress party to form the new government.
HDK plans to meet the Governor between 5.30 and 6 pm at the Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru. The elections results that were announced today showed 38 seats with the JD(S), 78 seats with the Congress and 104 seats with the BJP. Despite the BJP emerging as the single majaority, the Congress and the JD(S) held early talks and with the Congress offering unconditional support to the JD(S) to form the government, JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy wrote to the Governor seeking an appointment.
It may be recalled that the JD(S) had entered into an alliance with the BJP during the 2008 elections which proved to be disasterous. Later, HD Kumaraswamy on various platforms, had termed his move of joining hands with the BJP as a ‘blunder’.
Recently JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda had ruled out all possibilities of joining hands with the BJP again and had also sent out a stern message to his son HD Kumaraswamy of disowning him if he repeats the same mistake.
