Hassan police begin probe in Karkala after charred bodies found in car

Karkala: After two people were found charred beyond recognition in a car under mysterious circumstances in Pushpagiri, Halebeedu on Saturday, the Hassan Police arrived at Palli in Karkala to carry out their investigation on Sunday, June 10.

The deceased have been identified as Girish (35), and Sandhya (28) and it is now believed that the two were eloping when they met their tragic end.

Sandhya Acharya, from Mulki Ellinje was married to Shankar Prasad Acharya and had been living with him for the last four years in Palli, Karkala. Sandhya’s husband is a goldsmith and has a shop in Palli Town in which Sandhya also ran her tailoring business. The couple has a three-year-old son.

Meanwhile, Girish who hails from Beluru, ran a bakery adjacent to Sandhya’s shop. As per the local residents, Girish was also married and resided with his wife and a three-year-old child in a rented house in Palli. They had developed friendship and it is suspected that Girish and Sandhya were eloping together. It is as yet uncertain whether the two committed suicide or if they were murdered.
