Mangaluru: The much awaited Kannada movie “Hotegagi Genu Battegagi” featuring Sandalwood’s popular actors Anant Nag and Radhika Chethan, is all set for a statewide release. The movie will hit more than 80 screens in the state on May 25, said NRI entrepreneur, renowned singer and producer of the movie Harish Sherigar at a press meet in Mangaluru on May 22.

The movie produced under the banner of “Colors of Anekal” owned by Sudarshan and Ramamurthy and “ACME Movies International” owned by Dubai’s Harish Sherigar, is directed by emerging director Nagendra Babu who has directed Kabaddi and Santheyalli Nintha Kabira earlier.

The story of the movie explores the subject of generational gap between the young and the old, and the anxieties and melancholy of two generations. The protagonist is a person in his sixties (Anant Nag) who having worked for a publication for 40 years, is forced to find work again due to dwindling savings and financial difficulties. He finds work at an IT firm as an apprentice with a female boss (Radhika Chetan). How he adapts himself to the new work environment and lifestyle, collaborating with the youth working around him, is the theme of the movie.

As a main attraction, some parts of the movie have been shot in Dubai. It is the first time that a Kannada movie has been filmed at the World’s tallest skyscraper – Burj Khalifa.

Ramachndra Hadapadh has directed the music for the movie. Vijay Prakash, Arman Malik, Varsha, Vani Sathish and Swetha Prabhu have rendered their voice for the four songs in the movie, whereas Vinayakaram Kalagaru and Narendra Babu have composed the lyrics.

The movie will be released in Suchitra Theatre, Mangaluru and in all multiplexes in Mangaluru, Udupi and throughout Karnataka.

It may be recalled that, Harish Sherigar and his wife Sharmila Sherigar had produced “March 22” last year under the same banner of ACME Movies International. This movie was appreciated for its unique theme of saving water and unity. The movie has also won the National award for best lyrics bringing laurels to ACME Movies International in its very first venture.
